Agalloch Ashes Against the Grain
Black Sabbath Heaven and Hell
Death Symbolic
Dio Holy Diver
Dio The Last in Line
Forgotten Tomb Negative Megalomania
Probably my fav atmospheric black metal album of all time. The melodies are served as a perfect payoff after enduring the harsh black metal parts. The endings of "Negative Megalomania" and "Blood and Concrete" are probably my favorite music moments of all time (together with the solo on Necrophagist's "Advanced Corpse Tumor"). I remember hearing this the first time shortly after it got released - I was 20 back then, it was a cold winter day and I was on the bus on my way to the university. I can still remember the moment the ending riffs of Negative Megalomania kicked in. 15 years later this gloomy mixture of horror and hope, darkness and light, hate and love still pulls the same emotional strings it did back then. Masterpiece.
Immolation Here in After
One of the best DM albums of all time. Not a single weak point, every track is an absolute highlight. Perfect mixture of brutality, darkness and somber mood.
Judas Priest Screaming for Vengeance
Morbid Angel Blessed Are the Sick
W.A.S.P. The Crimson Idol
The best heavy metal concept album of all time. One of the best heavy metal albums of all time. All tracks stand on their own, all are amazing, but it's best appreciated as a whole. As much as I usually don't give a puck about lyrics and stories in music, here I get engaged even though the story is simple and predictable.

4.5 superb
Adramelech Psychostasia
Aequorea Dim
This is brilliant. A perfect post-metal album. Any fan of Agalloch will get blown away. An amazing, balanced mixture of post-metal, folk, doom metal. I can't really think of a better post metal album than Agalloch's legendary Ashes Against the Grain, but this might be it. I got completely blown away. Great sound, perfect production and mixing. I love, that all instruments are distinct and balanced. It's only first half ov January ov 2022 and already such a treat. It's gonna be an amazing year! Gotta come back in some time and see if it's a 5.0 contender.
Archspire Bleed the Future
Corpsessed Succumb to Rot
an absolute stomper. better than the latest releases from Cruciamentum, Krypts and Incantation. by far the best dm album this year so far. succumb to the cosmic horrors, bitches.
Dawn Slaughtersun (Crown of the Triarchy)
Demigod Slumber of Sullen Eyes
An absolute classic. Dark, ominous and simply evil. Quite simple songs when it comes to compositions. A great riff festival. Fabulous sound, production and mixing. Simple is better and less is more.
Destroyer 666 Unchain The Wolves
Hooded Menace The Tritonus Bell
Iced Earth Something Wicked This Way Comes
Idol of Fear Trespasser
High quality dark, atmospheric, progressive metal. Ominous and bleak would be the defining words. It rolls slowly in the rhythm of hypnotic drums. Spacey production coupled with dismal atmosphere make for a suffocating experience.
Khemmis Deceiver
Lake of Tears A Crimson Cosmos
Morowe Piekło.Labirynty.Diabły
One of the albums marking the beginning of the new wave of polish black metal, which started shortly before 2010. Older bands, which played more straightforward and primarily "anti-christian-based" sort oft black metal (Infernal War, Besatt, Azarath etc.) got completely obliterated by younger bands with a more open-minded approach (Morowe, Furia, Odraza, Mg?a etc.). Not only style but also lyrics shifted towards a more complex and adult stylistic. Till this day "Komenda" is one of the most visceral musical moments I've experienced. This is disturbing.
Mystifier The World Is So Good That Who Made It Doesn't Live
One of the wildest trips in extreme music. It's as eclectic as it gets but the underlying structures are undeniable. There is a sens of direction within this utter chaos and countless incredible moments scattered throughout this album can be discovered on subsequent listens. The closing track is one of the craziest journeys in music's history. Work of madmen for sure. Lyrically it's a unexpected sidestep into darker and crazier territory, while still staying as blasphemous as it gets. One of the highlights in the history of black metal.
Necrophagist Onset of Putrefaction
Plaga Magia gwiezdnej entropii
One of my fav modern black metal releases. Wild, simple, raw and full of ominous melodies.
Sentenced The Funeral Album
The Ruins of Beverast The Thule Grimoires
I've been debating with myself whether it's a 4 or 4,5. There is so much incredible and wonderful stuff in here. The first and the three ending tracks are simply outstanding. I like the doom/goth elements (which scream Celtic Frost's "Monotheist" to me). But the tracks 2-4, which sum up to 25 minutes are not as good. It's not that they drag, because they've been put in front, so that before they really annoy me the incredible stuff begins. But after a few times they are a chore to get through. Don't get me wrong. If I had to skip almost 40% of any other album I'd say it's a piece of shit. I need to skip more then a third of Grimoires in order to enjoy it, but it's a proof how good the beginning and the ending are, pure genius.
Wedrujacy Wiatr Zorzysta Staje Ocma
This is absolutely amazing. Top notch atmospheric black metal with a lot of acoustic guitar and folk elements. I'm really impressed with how faithfully it reflects the the slavic mythos which are rooted in nature, melancholy and yearning. EDIT: I just
got my hand numbered copy 97. This is one of the most beautifully released albums I've ever seen. The illustrations remind me of books my parents used to read me as a child. Amazing trip.
Woods of Ypres Pursuit of the Sun & Allure of the Earth
One of my forming metal experiences. This was a revolutionary album for me. A frivolous mixture ov many genres incl. doom, stoner, rock, folk and goth, with some black / death metal traces added in which amounts to one of the defining post-metal albums. I love the nicely rounded natural sound, fantastic vocals by David Gold, varied compositions. Each track is distinct and immediately recognizable.

4.0 excellent
1914 Where Fear and Weapons Meet
Abyssus Death Revival
Sound, composition, production = 100% OSDM. No gimmicks, no nonsense, no thrills OSDM. All Obituary fans will shit their pants.
Accept Balls to the Wall
Angel Dust Bleed
Arcturus Sideshow Symphonies
Behemoth Satanica
Benediction Scriptures
Cadaveric Fumes Echoing Chambers Of Soul
Celtic Frost Monotheist
Cosmic Putrefaction Crepuscular Dirge for the Blessed Ones
Cruciamentum Charnel Passages
Dan Swano Moontower
Dark Meditation Polluted Temples
What a shocker! I couldn't believe, that this is a debut album. This is some great musicianship, classic heavy metal compositions, passionate, but not over the top vocalist. Had they released this in the 80' this would be a classic today. I'm blown away (note to self: gotta check later if it's a 4,5).
Darkthrone Eternal Hails
Dawn of Solace Flames of Perdition
Desecresy Unveil in the Abyss
Dessiderium Aria
Destroyer 666 Call of the Wild
Devoid of Life Embracing Emptiness
Dormant Ordeal The Grand Scheme of Things
A surprisingly solid record. Modern thoughtful death metal. Lyrics maybe a tad pretentious, but still a step above the average. Quite a few memorable and haunting moments. Nice.
Druid Lord Relics of the Dead
Slow, stomping and relaxing old school doom/death. Rough sound, slow tempo, no thrills.
Epiphanic Truth Dark Triad: Bitter Psalms to a Sordid Species
Eximperitus... Sahrartu
A very nice mixture of Nile and Blood Incantation. Sound maybe even too similar to Nile. Apart from that it's a really good technical death metal album, with loads of atmosphere and good pounding. Highly recommended.
Glacier (USA-OR) The Passing of Time
Goatchrist Pythagoras
The Death of Pythagoras is one of my fav tunes of all time. Such a crazy ride through time, history and music genres with hook after hook.
Harakiri for the Sky Maere
Haunted Shores Void
Iced Earth The Glorious Burden
Idol of Fear Grave Aperture
Ironmaster Thy Ancient Fire
An extremely good debut album. Fans of Swedish sound and Bloodbath should be very pleased.
King Woman Celestial Blues
Malevolent Creation Warkult
Malignant Altar Realms of Exquisite Morbidity
Mastodon Hushed and Grim
Mega Colossus Riptime
Mystifier Goetia
A classic of occult metal. Raw, simple, evil and sincere.
Necrot Mortal
Nite Voices of the Kronian Moon
Odraza Rzeczom
Opensight Mondo Fiction
Great piece of progressive metal. It often strays into rock, blues and even jazzy territories. Great vocal performance. I'm a fool for this sound. Drums and bass are so juicy and clearly emphasised and yet not overwhelming. Music rolls steadily through the whole thing and is filled with groove. It's a relaxing experience if you wanna lay back but it has so much going on, that you can lose yourself in the intricacies if you're in the mood for that. It's silly how easy it is to fall in love with this one.
Possessed Revelations of Oblivion
A tad too long for it's own good. This is a nice restoration of mid 80' music sensibilities and style with modern production. Any fan of old school thrash/death should be satisfied.
Sanguisugabogg Tortured Whole
Sepultura Quadra
Shining (SWE) VI - Klagopsalmer
Shub Niggurath The Kinglike Celebration (Final Aeon on Earth)
Sinister Cross the Styx

Stormkeep Tales of Othertime
Sulphur Aeon Gateway to the Antisphere
Svartidaudi Revelations of the Red Sword
The Ruins of Beverast Rain Upon the Impure
Thumos The Republic
Tomb Mold Planetary Clairvoyance
Tower Shock to the System
First half is incredible. Second a bit weaker, but still a fantastic heavy-metal experience.
Undead Existential Horror
Undeath It's Time...To Rise From the Grave
Visigoth Conqueror's Oath
Voivod Synchro Anarchy
This album is a bit more accessible then the previous (which doesn't mean, that The Wake was not accessible). There are a lot of catchy melodic/rhythmic moments, which I really appreciate, they help to distinguish between the tracks better. Apart from that it's your typical Voivod: celebration of maths in music, praise of asymmetry, ode to the currents of cosmos. Musicianship is beyond any standards. It's also admirable, that they can show off those skills within coherent, structured and comfortable for the listener compositions, without resorting to selfish and ultimately boring instrumental masturbation.
Wolves in the Throne Room Primordial Arcana
I was avoiding it for a few months. I feared of another immense disappointment (and also had a shit-tone of other stuff to listen to). Yesterday I finally turned it on. How lucky I was to do so. Wonderful album. Atmospheric black metal at it's finest. Perfectly balanced between black metal guitars, atmospheric passages and melancholic melodies. Loving every second of it.

Production could be a little bit less boggy/dim/muffled (just a little bit sharper). Those beefy riffs deserve a little bit more in terms of sound, but I understand that this was a creative decision.
Cryptosis Bionic Swarm
Dark Millennium Acid River
Death Was Looming I Am...
Deathspell Omega Paracletus
Deeds of Flesh Nucleus
Deep Purple Whoosh!
Deprived Existence Deprived Existence
Devourer Raptus
Diminished Empires The Dawn of Failure
Disfuneral Blood Red Tentacle
Emperdia Vicious Cycle
Very high quality stuff. I think this should please fans of the more ambitious and creative side of metal. Nice mixture of modern thrash / doom served in a progressive sauce. Very good musicianship, solid production and a really huge chunk (66 minutes!) of quality music. Normally I'd say this is way too long but actually this rolls so smoothly I didn't even notice as it came to the end.
Entombed Same Difference
Ereb Altor Vargtimman
The more they stray from folk into black metal, the better it gets. Nice, enjoyable album.

Fragments Of Lost Memories Divagate
Fulci Tropical Sun

Genocide Pact Genocide Pact
Gojira Fortitude

Very relaxing and laid back but moody enough. Drags a bit towards the end, but never looses quality.
Hangman's Chair A Loner
whoa. this was really relaxing. the first half of the album was pretty boring, but the second is dreamy and spacey. if there is something as dream rock, than this is it.
Hath All That Was Promised
Haunter (USA-TX) Discarnate Ails
Humanotone A Flourishing Fall in a Grain of Sand

I revisit this over a month later and am still disappointed. This is a solid DM album, this is a poor Immo album.

Mystifier Protogoni Mavri Magiki Dynasteia
15 minutes too long. Way too much Rotting Christ and too little good old Mystifier. At times I thought this was more of a tribute album. Experimentation, insanity and wildness of old school albums is almost completely gone. Even with all those flaws it's an enjoyable melodic black metal in style of the early Greek scene.
Nameless Mist Nameless Mist II
Nite Darkness Silence Mirror Flame
Very basic modern heavy metal, with fun vox as the distinctive feature.
Non Est Deus Impious
Very melodic, but it drags a bit towards the end. Lyrics are silly and as blasphemous as a kindergartner can be but who listens to bm for lyrics? Gotta call a doctor for them.
Novarupta Carrion Movements
Obsequiae The Palms of Sorrowed Kings
Perihelion Gnosis Syzygial Summoning
Pestilectomy From Vulnerable To Funeral
Pillorian Obsidian Arc
Sadistic Demise Cannibalistic Urbanistic
Really good death metal. Solid throughout. Only disappointing thing is, that guys didn't have the balls to leave it at 32 mins, which would be enough, as those are some really great 32 mins. The two covers at the end make it too long and are two worst tracks.

Sanhedrin (USA-NY) Lights On
Saqraruna Under the Light of Mountains
Schizophrenia (BE) Recollections of the Insane
Very solid debut album. Guys know what they play and how to play it. If they can expand upon this and find their own niche, they could develop to a noteworthy band. For now they're a bit too constrained and too tightly adhering to their idols music.
Septicflesh Modern Primitive
Ys. It's Septicflesh. It's pretty damn gd as usal.
Sin Starlett Solid Source of Steel
Tasty old school heavy metal. Amazing artwork. It dragged a bit towards the end, but still had quite some fun.
Soliloquium Soulsearching
Very nice and balanced mixture of extreme music, some softer doom, and (sadly not as well done as the other stuff) atmospheric rock in style of later Anathema or maybe Katatonia. A lot of memorable moments and melodies. The "clean" parts are a bit underwhelming but still.
Solstice (UK) White Horse Hill
Sothoris Wpiekłowstąpienie
Spaceslug Memorial
Steel Bearing Hand Slay In Hell
Top notch thrash/death/black in vein of Destroyer 666 and Aura Noir. Old school, riff based, no-nonsense, straightforward music.
Stortregn Impermanence
Suffering Hour The Cyclic Reckoning
Swallow the Sun Moonflowers

Khemmis clone band. Quite a lot of stuff to work on, but for debut it's good enough.
Tension (DE) Decay

Trauma Field From Wounded Soil
Ah... So near and yet so far. So many beautiful moments, so many strokes of genius and yet at the end the whole thing is a few big steps away from greatness. There were moments when they took me to some amazing places with melodies and mood only to abruptly throw me back down to earth with some bad transition or awful / cringy lines (both when it comes to lyrics and vocals itself). It's a real disappointment that such a good material can get spoiled by minor elements. But I guess that's the thing that separates the good from the great.
Tyrannus (UK) Unslayable
Ultra Silvam The Sanctity of Death
Ah yes. Short, aggressive, wild and tight. Nothing amazing, but a step above average for sure.
Vanum Legend
Veilburner Lurkers in the Capsule of Skull
Some obvious Mayhem (Chimera and Grand Declaration of War era) inspirations pop-up now and then. Nicely layered and structured compositions. Ultimately doesn't fit my taste, but still gotta admit - this is some really good songwriting and musicianship.
Venator (AT) Echoes from the Gutter
Viande L'Abime Dévore les Âmes

Abomnium Of Time and Dying Stars
Absolva Fire in the Sky
Aenigmatum Deconsecrate
Aeons A Tragic End
Agresiva Pánico Escénico
Alunah Strange Machine
Amorphis Halo
This is Amorphis as lukewarm as it gets. All the signatures are there but somehow milder. The whole thing's diluted and softened. Even the energetic melodic moments which should hook, don't. There's not a single stroke of brilliance, not a single surprise, not a single stand out track. I guess that I got used to the formula. The template, which was set on "Eclipse" and developed to perfection on "Under the Red Cloud" got spread too thin. Time to expand the template or change it altogether, which of all bands Amorphis can do well. Maybe it's time to incorporate some death metal again? That would be nice.
Amoth The Hour of the Wolf
Andavald Undir Skyggðarhaldi
Arktotus Black Veins
Ba'a Egrégore
Bastard (USA-MO) Rotten Blood
Bastard Priest Under the Hammer of Destruction

Man are those vocals awful. I love them! The beginning of the first track got me hooked enough to go through the whole thing. Solid stoner/doom.
Black Mass (USA-MA) Feast at the Forbidden Tree
Blackslash No Steel No Future
Blastanus Beyond
Bleed This Earth The Slow Decline
Bloodbath The Arrow of Satan Is Drawn
Blut Aus Nord Disharmonium - Undreamable Abysses
The whole album is one big ass whirlpool of darkness, with very little dynamic and stylistic variation. Reminds me of Avow in that matter - one trick pony. Apart from that there's very little black metal to be found here, way less than on most previous albums.
Cantodea Dianthus Evanescencia
A fairly good attempt at post black / shoegaze. Atmosphere is there, solid lingering riffs are there. What hurts are the absurd vocals which add nothing. Apart from that a nice relaxing time.
Centinex The Pestilence
Chaos Invocation Devil, Stone & Man
Chronomancy Shadows in Atlantis
Craniotomy Ripped Out by Violence

If I'd judge music by the artwork this would be a 5/5. Alas music was a bit too predictable and boring.

Destruction Diabolical
Destruction doing Destruction things. Nothing to get excited about and nothing to criticize. Listen once or twice and forget.

Golgothan Remains Adorned in Ruin
Grafvitnir Tunes of Sitra Ahra
Hammr Eternal Possession
Primitive, straightforward and aggressive. Punk elements are obvious but every track is fully anchored in the black/speed metal territory. Even with the short runtime of 30 mins it gets a bit tedious towards the end.
Hate Gods Face Inocente
one of craziest albums i've heard in a while. loads of potential and sadly loads of bullshit as well. just focus on black metal and drop the ambient shit.

Just throw all the "story building" away (intros, outros, interludes and all the other useless shit that nobody cares for) and you get a 40-42 minutes long good quality black/death album with lots of melody.
Mithras On Strange Loops
Moongates Guardian The Wind Over Dale
Mystifier Wicca
Necrophagous In Chaos Ascend
Nequient Darker than Death or Night
Nightrage Abyss Rising
Noltem Illusions In The Wake
A lukewarm post black metal attempt. Everything's been done before and much better and exciting. Destined to fall into obscurity.
Obsidian Sea Pathos
Obsidian Shrine Bloodshed Under the Black Star
Oddland Vermilion
Old Night Ghost Light
Ondskapt Dödens Evangelium
Path of Might Deep Chrome
Persefone Metanoia
Phenomy Syndicate of Pain
This band is tagged as "thrash" which is misleading. This is a modern metal album which incorporates thrash, lots of *core elements, heavy metal, melodic metal with some progressive traces here and there. Most of the album is average at best. The 3 finishing tracks stand out and save it from mediocrity. Especially the instrumental 8th track and the following song are top notch modern metal. The less core in their music, the better it gets. Guys should drop this useless *core shit. They can play high quality metal, why bother with some submusic?
Portal Avow
If somebody told me, AVOW is the soundscape of hell, I wouldn't have arguments to disagree. This sounds like made by the devil to torment the souls in hell. Apart from that it's a one trick pony and at some point it starts to drag af.
Power Trip Nightmare Logic
Too much HC for me to digest easily. Even with the short runtime it's mundane and repetitive as puck. The HC riffs are simply so shitty and overdone. Plus for organic sound and production.
Pungent Stench Been Caught Buttering
Pyrexia Gravitas Maximus
Quell (USA-CA) The Kvlt Is Dead
Re-Machined Brain Dead
Poor man's Udo on vocals. Do all German heavy metal vocalists sound the same? Apart from that competent heavy metal.
Rivers of Nihil Monarchy
Core elements bring down this otherwise solid prog-death metal. Great stuff gets disturbed by meaningless breakdowns.
Saxon Carpe Diem
Every time I thought "okay, enough, there's nothing going to happen anymore" something happened and kept me going. I've never got into Saxon and this can't change it but it's still good heavy metal.
Scalpture Feldwärts
Scorpions Rock Believer
Sentient Horror Rites of Gore
Sepulchral (ES) From Beyond The Burial Mound
Serpentshrine Allegiance to the Myth
Shadow Of Intent Elegy
What a shame. This could've been a great album. But it's so immature and at moments so cringy that I had to skip tracks. When I heard "Of fury" I almost puked and said "no! Fak it, bring back the fakin' danger in the music!". In the end I skipped the track and got hit by "Intensified Genocide" which is borderline tech-death metal (imagine Archspire but with way more melody but less tech-death). If this band matures and plays melodic-tech-death, they could get far. For now, there's too much teenage-angst in this stuff and I'm regrettably too old for this shit. Nevertheless I wish those guys all the best.

Pretty nice album. Has quite a few nice moments, but nothing that would stand out. Those young guys fall prey, as many other young bands do, to the stupid idea, that putting more tracks on an album makes it more attractive. Well, it does not. If they had trimmed this one to 30-35 minutes the whole thing would benefit. But as it is, it's still enjoyable.

Towards the end it dragged. For my taste 20 minutes too long. I'm not an expert in this kind of music, but I couldn't tell any difference between the songs, for me they are all the same. Apart from that nice atmospheric slow rock.
A Pale December Death Panacea
Abstracted Atma Conflux
Acid Mammoth Under Acid Hoof

This is high quality deathcore, which is a testimony to how limited and useless this genre (and for that matter most other cores) is. I heard some Morbid Angel "Domination" vibes here and there, probably because "Domination" incorporates the whole deathcore within excerpts from a handful of tracks. This album is 90% breakdowns and 10% some cliche det metal riffs. Candy store sort of brutality.

Has its moments, but ultimately I've got overwhelmed by metalcore/nu-metal ingredients and teenage angst in the lyrics. But hey, most bands that claim they're "groove metal" are like that, so nothing out of the ordinary. Sound is nice, compositions mostly make sense.
Craven Idol Forked Tongues
Crusade of Bards Tales of the Seven Seas
Cryptworm Spewing Mephitic Putridity
Crystal Ball Crysteria
Cult of Luna The Long Road North
Bloated beyond belief. Most songs could easily be compressed by >50% and nothing of significance would be lost. It's "atmosphere building" without any purpose, without any climax or payoff. Deceptive depth to inveigle simpletons. Nearly 70 minutes of hollow pondering with a few minutes of meaningful musical development.

Why does it need to happen again and again and again and again. Why do smaller bands need to flood their albums with so much useless material. Why do they need to dump every shitty song they come up with on their albums? Why? This could've been decent had it been trimmed down to 30-35 minutes. There's simply not enough good material to make it any longer. It's even more surprising taking into account, that this is a pure Motorhead rip-off. Overkill, Bomber or Ace of Spades where all about 35 minutes long, which for such a simple music is more than enough. The music meanders between old school Motorhead and some generic modern heavy metal. The vocalist is a try-hard Lemmy impostor (which at moments sounds pretty damn well). This album should have started with the ending track (Lie of God) to get listeners hooked and then ended 5-6 tracks later. Maybe next time they'll get it right.

I know it's supposed to be "atmospheric music", but you can make atmospheric music without being boring as fuck. A few minutes stand out and are fun, but rest is simply some lingering notes without much purpose.

Years of listening to this kind of shit taught me not to care about vocals much, but this burfing (mixture of burping and barfing) got on my nerves fast. Vox remind me of Anima Hereticae but somehow even worse. Addition of all 3 instrumental interludes is useless and forced. There were moments I though I was listening to poor man's Domination.

Why df does it need to be that long? Why would you do that to yourself? Just trim the filler, leave the best you could come up with and throw the rest away. There is descent material for 35-40 minutes, but it simply drowns and gets lost in a sea of mediocrity. There were moments, where I got really hooked and I was genuinely enjoying myself. But I'm not going to listen to this again in order to find those few scattered sparkles of pleasure.
Seremonia Neonlusifer
Shield of Wings Unfinished
Sidus Atrum Spiral of Life
Slytherin Tales of Hogsmeade Village
Way too much bim-bam-bim-bam, and too little guitars going brrrr. There is definitely a lot of potential here. The song compositions are sadly the weakest part of it all. Sound, production, vocals, atmosphere are all there, but the songs just don't seem right.
SoulLine Screaming Eyes
Apart from embarrassing lyrics pretty decent melo-death.
Speckmann Project Fiends of Emptiness
Spirits Of Fire Embrace the Unknown
Star Eternal Atlas
Everything is very average here. Apart from cringe, it's extremely strong in that regard. I have no idea how a grown up man can come up with such bullshit.

Typical lukewarm guitar-shred masturbation. Incredible technique, blazing speed, amazing musicianship and no emotions. He'd get along with Paul Wardingham.
Tokyo Blade Fury
For the first few tracks it's bearable, but then it starts to drag. And then it goes on, and on, and on, and on... Why does it need to last for almost 80 minutes? 15 Tracks, each lasting about 5 minutes, each and every one almost the same. Towards the end it gets unbearable. Who needs a 80 minutes long heavy metal album anyway. The Number of the Beast or WASP are 40 minutes long and manage to deliver more emotions in one track than this one in the whole 80 minutes.

They start off with the two strongest tracks which have some interesting stuff going for them but quickly fall into complete mediocrity. There are some quirks in the production that I cannot understand. Sometimes bass nicely fills in the background (e.g. track 1) sometimes it's obnoxiously pushed to the front (e.g. track 7). The production is all over the place. Track 3 sounds as if it was from another recording altogether. Destined for obscurity. I found the death'n'roll attempt in track 8 to be hilariously bad.
Firmament The Ætheric Pathway
Fractal Generator Macrocosmos
This is incredibly boring and derivative. Sound is generic af. They try to be Blood Incantation but fail miserably. Almost unbearable.
Fury (UK) Born to Sin
Generation Kill MKUltra
Hanging Garden Neither Moth nor Rust
I don't know what this is all about. I know the drill: doom turns into goth turns into rock turns into pop-rock. Well known procedure for many bands (Anathema, Katatonia, Paradise Lost). Some do it better other worse. Some come back to doom (Paradise Lost) others abandon metal completely (Anathema). Same thing here, but this is really poor, derivative and ultimately boring af.

Return of a band that nobody wanted and nobody needed. Those guys are still stuck in the first half of the first decade of the third millennium, which was not the best time for metal. The closing track is such a cringefest - once I heard "saaaaaaaatan... luuuuuuuuuuuuucifer... saaaaaaaaaaaatanic mistress" and then "one two three four five SIX SIX SIX" I couldn't handle it anymore. What a piece of shit. Just put this shit band to rest already.

Instrumental blackgaze inspired by Burzum and Alcest. It lacks the raw simplicity of Varg's music. It's also nowhere near the alluring and haunting melodies of Alcest. Boring af.
Slackjaw Vicious Cycle
Ah, this kind of shit again. Call yourself "groove metal" play mallcore and sing "fuck you and I mean it" and still take yourself seriously. So strong, so passionate, so daring.
The Devils of Loudun Escaping Eternity
Tomhet (CAN) Blissful Escapism
Truculency The Dome Collector
Useless and derivative. An absolute creative desert. Underdeveloped musicianship. You can throw it on top of the "metal tough guys" heap, which by now could reach the moon. Amateurish stuff by armatures. For lovers of guitars so down tuned, that you cannot tune them any lower and vocals straight out of ass.
Venom Prison Erebos
The production is extremely clean but the sound is generic. I like how it's balanced but vocals are a bit too loud for my taste, I get that they're the focus though. They try hard to summon any kind of emotions. Whether it's solos, chick ripping her heart out or those silly song conclusions - it's all disposable and artificial. The second part of "Comfort of Complicity" had potential (really nice solo leading to some interesting melodies) but towards the end they went overboard with melodies and the chick should've just stfu and let the guitars linger. "Pain of Oizys" is hilarious, what a mess - as YellowVoid mentioned it's incoherent at best. This is a calculated product, lacking any kind of creativity or artistry, an amalgamation of modern metal cliches. They tried to appeal to a broad range ov audiences, which lead to those chaotic compositions full ov abrupt changes. No direction, no identity, no style. Second half ov the album is almost unbearable, it's so incoherent. All the band members would make great session musicians, but on their own they got lost. Complete lack of focus is my biggest problem with this album.
WAIT (USA) The End of Noise
Pretentious. Boring. Awful vocals. I barely made it to the end.

Abbath Dread Reaver
Can't judge this on a musical level, because I couldn't hear anything among the piss-poor production.

Oh man is this bad. A steaming pile of shit. Sound is bad, music is bad, vocals are awful.

Over years many bands have worked on perfecting this recipe. This is the pinnacle of this hard work. An unlistenable piece of shit.
Riverwood (EG) Shadows And Flames
WTF is this shit? Dovahkiin? My cringe was extreme. I couldn't listen anymore. The music was mediocre at best anyway.
Shards of a Lost World Parafer

1.0 awful
Dagoba By Night
There were those silly "childilized" female "vocals", which reminded me of the German cvlt techno group. And man did I get a chill down my spine. I was sure that fucking Scooter gonna jump out at me and fucking ask how much is the fish. And fuck! With this crazy inflation I'd have no idea what to say. How this mallcore found it's way to metal archives is beyond my comprehension. Only for mallcore fanatics.
Genophobic Perversion Conversationalist
The age we live in brought a lot of possibilities. But it also brought a lot of shit.
Glasya Attarghan
I wasn't able to listen to this. The story part is cringe beyond redemption. ahahaha, this is so funny. Mob comes to bash me for not being able to endure a guy saying a silly story as if it was a matter of life and death. Let's go! Common ya wankers, let's have some fun with the epic Assafartan and his mistress, aahahahah.
