One of the best 'core albums of the year. I could tell from the singles that this was going to be good, but I was blown away by just HOW good this is. The drumming is one of the real highlights. Also, the album never overstays its welcome and just really has impressive variety and a marriage of different sounds. Well done thoughtcrimes.

Alexisonfire Crisis

Their best since TOTTG and they even introduce some refreshing elements to their sound. The riffs have a hint of Iron Maiden and the songs are way more melodic than previous outings. I really like the album so far with the album closer being my favorite!

Killswitch Engage Incarnate
Killswitch Engage is like the Amon Amarth of metalcore. They always put out consistently good music without changing their sound much. This album is nothing different, with a ton of a great tracks that throwback to AOJB.
Killswitch Engage Atonement II B-Sides for Charity
Someone needs to fire their producer. Almost every song on this b-side is better than every song on 'Atonement'.
Machine Head Through The Ashes Of Empires

Metallica Kill 'Em All
Metallica Metallica
Metallica Hardwired...To Self-Destruct
I am really enjoying this. I feel like a teenager again hearing new Metallica music that isn't
mediocre. There's some really good tracks like: Spit out the bone, Dream No More and Halo on Fire.
I'd give this a higher rating if Lars Ulrich wasn't the worst Metal drummer of all time. The
drumming is too generic and better fills would elevate the sludgy/doom feel on some of these
tracks. I just can't ignore the fact that there's about 5 different fills Lars uses on the entire
album. Can you imagine what this album would sound like if they had Gene Hoglan behind the kit?
Luckily, the rest of the band carries the performance very well and James sounds better than he
has in about 15-20 years.

As I Lay Dying Decas
The new songs are solid, especially From Shapeless To Breakable which is a fantastic track. I like that they are trying some new things. The covers are awesome and are well done. The 40 second ones are just filler and could have been left off. Also the rerecording of Beneath the encasing of ashes is great, Tim's voice has gotten SO much better and it shows. The remixes are absolute shit and were probably made to appease the teen fanbase that's obsessed with dubstep.

In Flames Foregone
Definitely their best work since 2006. Adding Chris Broderick has definitely invigorated some much needed energy with the solo work. Unfortunately, Anders is the weakest link of this band. There's a few mid-paced songs in the latter half of the album that are just bland due to the shoehorned choruses.

Howard sounds awesome, but the music is very bland. I was so hyped for this album, and it was ultimately a let down because of generic songwriting.
Machine Head Bloodstone And Diamonds
Machine Head Arrows in Words from the Sky
I don't even have anything snappy to say about this besides that it's decent and sounds like Machine Head. There are basic chugga chugga wugga chug breakdowns now and poor clean vocals now, for some reason--I guess I never listened to the Blackening or Unto The Locust, which has breakdowns and clean vocals, but I digress. And changing producers seems to have had some positive effect on the music, as at least there are no tracks like Triple Beam. I dunno man, this is kinda fun.

All That Remains Overcome
All That Remains The Order of Things
Why can't Phil just stick to his harsh vocals (they sound WAY better) and occasionally use cleans that aren't bastardized by overproduction? The instrumental parts are slightly better than the last album, which saves this from being an absolute disaster. I wish this band would find a new vocalist.
Arch Enemy Will to Power
Arsis Starve for the Devil
