Charles Mingus The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady
This has to be in my top 5 albums I've ever listened to. The range of moods and thrills this record makes ryou go through is absolutely astounding. I don't think there's enough words to describe it. It is a landmark in the rfield of music.

Jimi Hendrix South Saturn Delta
New style for Jimi as he plays here with different band members. More funky than before, a bit like Band of Gypsys
but jazzier. The song "Pali Gap" is worth the purchase alone.
My only gripe: it lacks the polish of the studio albums.

This one won't be an easy listen for most people, but it is a stunning album that rocks real hard. The spirit of the rpsychedelic rock era is very present. The songs are all amazingly well crafted with many tempo changes that fit rperfectly with each other. Also notable are admirably good inclusions of electronic effects that truly enhance the rexperience. The musicianship here is well above par, especially Deantoni Parks and John Theodore both on drum. rDO NOT MISS!!

Most experimental and best album made by Jimi IMO. Uneven pieces , some are truly gems while others are so so (ie "Little Miss Strange"). The best finish you could have hoped for with "All Along The Watchtower" and "Voodoo Child". Overall, one of the most intricate and inspired rock album ever.

Just great! I don't even like this kind of music, it's very cheesy but I simply can't stop listening to this record once it
has started. Must be the great drum'n'bass beats supporting the whole thing. I don't know... This album is very well
an experience.

This is somewhat of an uneven album, but some of Binney's best material is on this disc. "Frez" might be his best
song ever in my opinion. Really pushing the limits of jazz in this one, it is a very good example of where jazz should
be heading to renew itself.

Keith Jarrett The Survivor's Suite
This is an odd record for Keith Jarret. It is very moody. It feel as if it weren't a Jarret album, as you usually ear him
placing lots of notes and experiment to find the right tone. But here, it is as if he knew exactly where to go right at
the beginning. The melodies unfold very slowly and are beautiful, and all this with a less splashy but well assured
piano playing lead by first caliber support in Dewey Redman, Paul Motian and Charlie Haden . An absolute must for
Keith Jarret fans.

The Mars Volta De-Loused in the Comatorium
The Mars Volta Frances the Mute
Psychedelic, progressive rock at its best. Nice latin touch throughout the album. Amazing song writing skills. Reminds me of a crossover between Jimi Hendrix and Genesis. A great work of art, but we can see that The Mars Volta are never sounding self-indulgent. In fact, they don't seem to take themselves seriously, and it definitely shows. The result is an album of epic proportions that always stays beautiful, with many twists and turns. The Mars Volta, here, are very intricate as usual but mostly passionate.r

El Trio de Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Ciencia de los Inutiles
Very nice album made by a chilled down Omar. Ximena's voice is gorgeous on this one and takes a more important
place than ever before. It is a refreshing break from Omar usual trend, this might be what Solar Gambling should
have been. Still, it remains moody and trippy throughout, thanks to some carefully placed experimental segments
wich provide depth and nuances to the tunes and therefore keeps them from becoming too contemplatives.

For Omar longtime fans and for those who thought his music was too "harsh", this is well recommended.
Ellen Allien Berlinette
Very solid electronic music from Berlin. Ellen Allien act as a producer as well with the Bpitch Control label that she founded in 1999. "Shensucht" and "Wish" are classics. Very smooth.

Very focused (for an Omar album) and atmospheric music. Tighter written than most of his records from that period.
Very good use of electronic. Some real nice drumming, especially from Thomas Pridgen on "Sidewalk Fins" and "Las
Ligrimas De Arakuine". Very trippy. Truly excellent psychedelic rock overall.

Prefuse 73 Everything She Touched Turned Ampexian
The sound of Prefuse 73 is definitly going toward IDM with this record. It is less influenced by hip-hop than before.
The tracks are in general smaller, of witch Prefuse is taking advantage of by having a lot of different textures
throughout the record and pulling more of its twists and tricks to the melodies. He therefore keeps his very unique
sound but appear way smoother.

It is a challenging listen, though, because of the sheer amount of textures used and the rather messy structure.
Nonetheless, it is a rewarding one.

Maybe it's just because I don't like slow paced music in general, but I can't find a reason to put back this CD in my cd-player. It wasn't bad, it's just that I think the Mars Volta omitted to put in what they do best in this release: put raw energy into music and do it in a very intricate and stylish way with tempo changes and well placed solos. There is hardly any of that here, making the Mars Volta sounding ALMOST like any other band on radio. Hum... I hope that won't be what they'll have to offer in the future.
