They seriously haven't missed a beat in the 12 years leading up to this. The guitar-wizardry from the get-go has the trademark Gorguts sound and is second to none. Everything else fits into place beautifully. The 3 "new" members are all excellent choices and each one shines on Colored Sands. Lemay is a goddamn genius. This is an amazing album.

Wow! What a perfect way to celebrate 20 years of a marvellous career. Playing at an amazing venue, in top form, performing some of their best songs. It's nice to see them pay hommage to the album which brought them into superstardom and bust out some of their classics (my personal favorite Opeth song "April Ethereal" as well as "The Moor" and "Advent". Great live performance from the best band walking this earth today.

anyone expecting this to be the second coming of christ will be disappointed. but it's been 20 years since their last LP and quite frankly they don't owe anyone anything. what Pink Floyd has done here is take fantastic pieces of Division Bell era recordings and compile them into a nice album to pay tribute to Rick Wright. it's the perfect send off to him, as well as to one of the, if not the greatest band of all time.

their formula is just getting tiresome. I wish they still knew how to write coherent songs instead
of coming up with a great idea and then totally squashing it under a heavy, soiled blanket of wank
and over the top drumming.

the middle section of Gestaltzerfall is a perfect example. smooth synths come in with some nice,
calming, well thought out ideas. first time the album has taken a real step back and let itself
breathe. a massive riff builds off this and chugs along with the synths filling out the section,
followed by a great, restrained solo. this would make for a perfect fade out piece...but nope!
let's rip this apart and throw in more stupid solo wanking and ridiculous drumming that has
nothing to do with that last minute and a half build up!

just annoying. they still have some great sections, but there isn't one song I can look at and say
I enjoyed it all the way through.

Instrumentally these guys are top notch. Lots of the material is technically impressive, but the songwriting results in a simple mish mash of progressive rock songs that end up getting lost within themselves. The PtH style vocals are extremely draining and take away any desire of repeated listens. Just a chore to get through.
