You know that first album which grabbed us by the throat and left us feeling all kinda feels we've never felt before? Yeah, it's like that, only way more depressing and moody. Which is a fucking good thing. I hate you Damien Rice, now I'm crying again.

Jesus, didn't think it would be this good. The first time I heard "High Road", I was like: "meh". Then I heard "Chimes at Midnight", which was way better imho. And now that I've listened to the whole album a couple of times, I must say: it just works, sure it's a little more accessible, which is fine. We already knew Mastodon was going in that direction, but the riffs are better, the drums are way more intense, and some serious work has been done on those vocals. It's just a really good album.

It's definitely not a great album, but not a bad one either. The opening and closing songs are very solid. But the whole middle section is not so good. Shame though, it definitely had potential.

It sure is a step in the right direction. But Linkin Park was never ever really good. Hybrid Theory was great, went downhill from there. And this album is no different. It's a 3 out of 5 at most. Some really great songs, about 3 of them, the rest is the same boring shit.
