It might just be because I haven't listened to new death metal in a long time, but this music felt dense. This is great at the beginning as you get take everything in, but begins to exhaust about halfway through the album. I imagine my rating will increase as I listen to it a few more times.

Much, much better than the first album in every respect other than length. With better editing, this would be higher.

Upon further listening, I'm going to bump this. It's unlike any other stuff I'm familiar with, being so uplifting and happy that it's almost cloyingly so. For me, it was totally infectious and didn't feel overlong, especially if you skip the last two totally forgettable tracks.
Twisted Sister Stay Hungry
Tyr By The Light Of The Northern Star
Unleash The Archers Apex
While Unleash the Archers had always felt like they were missing something before, I just *keep* coming back to this album. It's not perfect, but the highs are high and the lows are... also pretty high.
Wilderun Olden Tales and Deathly Trails
Wilderun Veil of Imagination
Wind Rose Stonehymn
Genuinely really impressed by this. Saw a few of their videos on youtube over the years and none of it ever made any impact, so I wasn't expecting much. The songs on this aren't particularly noteworthy on their own but, taken together, create a very enjoyable listening experience.

This one will need a few more spins. Obviously there are a lot of production issues but, beyond that, the album feels like it needs to be tighter. With better production and more focus in their songwriting, I could see a Wilderun-like followup.

A bit of a letdown. Their songwriting seems to have gone backward since their last release. The singles are punchier and more memorable this time around, but the album as a whole suffers.

This might be the first album of Crimfall's that I actually enjoyed as a whole, instead of liking a few songs and just putting up with the rest. It felt poppier than the last two, but that may be why it went down easier than the others.

Alestorm Terror on the High Seas
Apocalypse Orchestra The End is Nigh
They're like Tyr but slower and boring. There's interesting stuff happening with the instrumentation, but this really is a trudging album. In their defense, I've never been one for doom.

I was going to rate this higher, but I then realized that what I thought was nearing the end of the album was actually towards the beginning of a 32 minute long track. At 78 minutes, this album is really long and absolutely drags. Most of the album is perfectly fine, but somewhat forgettable.

A lot of promise, but that's about it. The best parts of the album were instrumentals and melodies that were quickly abandoned as the songs progressed rather than integrated into the rest of the music. Made the album feel choppy and scattered. The album does end on a stronger note though.
Wind Rose Wardens of the West Wind
Listened to Stonehymn first, and that may have been a mistake. Their songwriting is much stronger on the other album. This one shows the promise they'd later build on, but it really lags at times.
Wintersun The Forest Seasons

I might be my anger here guiding my rating, but the beginning of this album was *so* good; I don't understand how the rest of it was so bad. Good god, what wasted promise.
