A new take on a sound that doesn?t feel like a departure from their roots. This thing is haunting and gorgeous. Tanner?s vocals sound the best that they ever have.

Pijn and Conjurer Curse These Metal Hands
Finally, fresh take on ?post metal?. Not for a second do we hear the tribal drums, brooding atmosphere, or classic ?build up to climax? moments made popular by Neurosis or Isis. Instead the listener is treated to colorful leads, bright atmosphere, and a sense of melody that never comes off as out of place despite its complete absence in the rest of the genre.

I?ve had my copy a good two weeks now so I feel okay rating. Turner and co go much further down the improv / harsh noise rabbit hole and it feels much more cohesive than Love In Shadow, which had blatant stopping and starting points to those free passages. If this is your kind of thing it?s fantastic, I can see fans of more traditional heavy music being turned off by the longer passages of improv/ambience/noise.
Sun Kil Moon April
Thantifaxath Hive Mind Narcosis
The Appleseed Cast The Fleeting Light of Impermanence
The addition of synth really added a layer to their core sound. Chris also focuses on his upper register for the majority of the record and the results are a much more controlled and enjoyable vocal. Loving this more with every listen.

I really like every song, but as a record this is kinda a mess. It could have been a really good grunge record and a separate record more in vein of the black queen. The lack of cohesion is keeping me from giving it a 4.5 but the songs themselves are excellent.
