MTObsidian
05.16.24 | Tchaikowsky - Symphony No. 6 "Pathetique": such a melancholy sigh of a last movement that feels like the last sigh of Tchaikowsky himself
Kallinikov - Symphony #1: gorgeous late Romantic Russian symphony music, the second movement is particularly *chef's kiss*
Mahler - Symphony #1: an early Mahler work that I think is easier to follow than some his later stuff, very epic and fun overall
Dvorak - Symphony #9 "New World": a very well-known classic symphony that is accessible and yet still very complex. Dvorak as a whole is a great composer.
Anything by Mendelssohn will treat you nicely!
Brahms - Symphony #1 in C minor: epic Brahms work outside of his large piano repertoire
I'm a huge fan of the Romantic/late-Romantic periods because they're all so epic and emotional, but others will have great suggestions from other periods of classical music. Have fun with your classical journey! |
