| Top 10 Albums, 6 Years Later...
Made this list 6 years ago, oh how things have changed. Going to include details of live shows too because I've been pretty lucky. No particular order. | 1 | | Bohren & Der Club Of Gore Sunset Mission
Perfect late night music. Band has toured England a lot in recent years, managed to catch them 4 times, played a lot of material from this album. | 2 | | Devin Townsend Ocean Machine: Biomech
So hard to pick just one album by this man. See him live 6 times, but the Ocean Machine tryptic during Ziltoid: Live at the Royal Albert Hall was a definite highlight. | 3 | | Casualties of Cool Casualties of Cool
...ok, thought I could include this too. 'Moon' is basically a perfect track. Caught the live show in London on the last day of my honeymoon and got to go backstage with Devin. Great night. | 4 | | Meshuggah Catch Thirtythree
Again, really hard to pick just one. The band has an amazing ability to be consistent and sound completely unique on each release. I'm on the front row of the Ophidian Trek DVD, thrashing around like a madman. | 5 | | Thrice Major/Minor
First picked up Vheissu about 8 years ago and couldn't get into it. After 'To Be Everywhere...' came out, they suddenly clicked with me. Major/Minor is a superb release, with Words in the Water taking the crown. | 6 | | In Flames Whoracle
The glory days of In Flames. Still never managed to catch them live - probably don't want to anymore.... | 7 | | Johnny Truant In the Library of Horrific Events
This one has remained unchanged, massive nostalgia attached with it and not a bad track on it. Split up before I could catch them live. | 8 | | Katatonia Night Is the New Day
Met my wife after talking about this album with her - seeing Forsaker live together was a highlight. They're performing The Great Cold Distance in its entirety in a month or so in London, and we've got tickets! | 9 | | Uyama Hiroto A Son of the Sun
After getting into Nujabes, I started looking into all the Hydeout artists - Uyama Hiroto quickly became my favourite, with his debut being sheer joy from start to finish. | 10 | | Tom Waits Blue Valentine
All the best bits of Tom in one package - best time for his voice, great elements of jazz and experimentation. My dream gig would be seeing Tom in the mid-80s. | 11 | | Alcest Les Voyages de l'Âme
So many honourable mentions, but I'd include Isis: Wavering Radiant, Alexisonfire: Watch out!, Underoath: Define the Great Line, Ulver: Shadows of the Sun, Strapping Young Lad: Alien.
...Whatever, you guys don't care. | |

08.27.16 | "I'm on the front row of the Ophidian Trek DVD"
Lucky fuck, despite that DVD being not good. | grannypantys
08.27.16 | The OG Legend returns. Will check some of these. | BallsDeep
08.27.16 | Nice list, your taste hasnt changed nearly as much as mine has in 6 years | Alucard125
08.28.16 | I guess the favourites haven't shifted as much, but the overall spectrum of what I'm listening to has grown a lot.
Yeah, it's a shame the Ophidian Trek DVD jumps around a lot - the Brixton show was pretty much spot on (as you'd expect), so no idea why they kept flipping to the festival set. The In Death - Is Death closer was awesome though. | CalculatingInfinity
08.28.16 | Not just that, I mean the camera work and the production of it. |
