Devin Townsend The Retinal Circus
Devin Townsend Order of Magnitude - Empath Live Volume 1
The first "fully live" output from Devin Townsend, and the sound is miles ahead of anything from 'Ziltoid Live' or the superb 'Retinal Circus'. The use of a full band and no click tracks gives both old and new songs a rich and deep sound like no other. The band is clearly having a huge amount of fun, and every musician is at the top of their game. The run of songs from 'Ki' is a highlight.

A Textbook Tragedy Rain City State of Mind - EP
Agent Fresco Destrier
Akala Freedom Lasso
With the exception of 'Comedy Tragedy History', the first half of the album is very poor. However, the second half beginning with 'Where I'm From' is some of his best work to date. A very mixed album, but definately worth a listen.

Edit: Album grows on you like crazy. Love In My Eyes still sucks, but otherwise a very strong and catchy album.

Finally returned to this after a couple of years...it's actually pretty great. 'Grey' is one of the best songs the band has written yet. If a new album is ever on the cards and they went for this style, I wouldn't be disappointed.

Devin Townsend Ziltoid Live at the Royal Albert Hall
The show begins with the 'Z2' set - it doesn't quite live up to the visual expectation established by the rphenomenal Retinal Circus, but is still a great listen. The show comes alive however for the 'by request' set - rnumerous classics unheard live before which are performed to perfection. The tryptic of 'Funeral', 'Bastard' and r'The Death of Music' towards the end is pure bliss. A highly recommended listen.

A much simpler album, but works really well for the most part. 'Elongo' is the best track on the record, and one of their best songs to date. The usual pretty stuff is found in 'May You Be The Road' and 'Mountain Top'. 'No One Moves, No One Gets Hurt' is dull, but a very solid album overall.

Katatonia The Longest Year
The Longest Year is a fantastic song from Night Is The New Day, and Sold Heart is a
beautiful addition to the latest Katatonia collection. The remixes are nothing special
however, and fail to live up to the quality of the originals. The EP will be released in a
re-release of NITND, along with the fantastic Swedish bonus track, Ashen. It will be well
worth getting this when it becomes available.
