DoofDoof 10.20.19	Dunno, there’s users whose taste is interesting who I won’t have noticed what they liked over the last month and their top pick will end up here - the worst thing about the list so far is most people haven’t noticed the list/voted Say you vote a Black Moon next month - a lot of users might not have even known that was coming out, or that you rated it that highly. I guess a lot of people put up recent rec lists but not every user.

DrGonzo1937 10.21.19	I get what you're saying pots, but as doof has said, it makes sense that people get to choose what they think is their best album -- regardless of how many votes it has -- so that it at least opens the door for people wanting to check out new music.i mean, i get your argument, but doing it this way is no different to how the end of year vote goes (if i recall). It just seems if i go at it any other way, it restricts people's choice. also, i dont think every month will be completely one sided, there's bound to be some close months. if it persists like this every month, i'll definitely be up for trying a different approach, but at the minute a lot of users didn't see the vote at the start, and it seemed universally agreed col was always going to win.

I made this point elsewhere, but the winner isn't JUST a metal album, it happens to be leading the whole of 2019 at this present time i.e. one glance at the averages tells you it was always likely to win. I imagine doing this for the previous months would've produced different results in that regard.
Demon of the Fall 10.21.19	OK, I did a quick check and only 4.5/9 are metal, I'm not counting post-hardcore because that's silly... Jan - De Staat Feb - Cara Neir (Saor/Downfall of Gaia) strong metal m/ March - Brutus April - Hath m/ May - Fire! Orchestra (Flying Lotus/Tipper) strong non-metal June - Thom Yorke July - Joliette m/ - at a push Aug - WRVTH m/ Sept - Cult of Luna m/ I'll say Joliette is metal enough even though it leans heavily towards post-hardcore the heaviness is there, Brutus is definitely post-hardcore/post-rock. Regardless this is a varied enough list and would've been my votes for each month, Feb/May were close calls (with one being metal dominated and the other not).
