2019-07-04 by Slex | 64 Comments
Legendary post-metal band Kayo Dot have announced that their newest album, Blasphemy, will be dropping on September 6th. No single has been given yet; the only info is a sub-30 second teaser video of vampy music and effusive praise for the album by various outlets, the cheeky bastards. View the track list and teaser below and get that hype train a-rollin’. You can also go to their Bandcamp page to read a short but characteristically extra as hell press release regarding the new album.
Blasphemy:
1. Ocean Cumulonimbus
2. The Something Opal
3. Lost Souls On Lonesome’s Way
4. Vanishing Act In Blinding Gray
5. Turbine, Hook, And Haul
6. Midnight Mystic Rise And Fall
7. An Eye For A Lie

These guys are turning into Michael Keene. Look how many people haven't gotten CotE vinyls yet. They even go as far to antagonize one of the people complaining. Shit is unbelievable, you guys need to read that thread. Right below the album announcement.

Thank God I did not buy a vinyl. Two years. That's just fucked.

In regards to the teaser, it is what it is. Does the job, but I do hope the album art is a little cooler than that.

Really curious to hear this, their last three have each been mind-blowing in such different ways. New song should drop soon I hope.

He probably just wants people to pay for Choirs. Dowsing wasn’t on streaming services for a while either

Choirs isn't on Spotify because it's owned by Tzadik, who refuse to put it on streaming services.

September can't come soon enough - apparently the album concept is by Jason Byron who did Hubardo's, so even if this is Hubardo II it's going to be brilliant

"The press release says this is apparently akin to a more intense Coyote"

will it be as good as Coyote? Holding my breath after PHOBOS and that teaser, otherwise that box set would've been an instant purchase.

As regarding the Choirs streaming thing again since someone brought up Dowsing, I think that one was a lot easier to secure bc the fact that 1) Hydra Head, for the longest time, wasn't a thing anymore until just recently, which made getting it available for streaming a possibility; 2) and with HH back up and running, Toby probably brokered a deal with the label or got the rights back, as is the case with KD material afterwards AFAIK.

Wouldn't call Dowsing post-metal outside of Gemini tbh, but I guess it fit for Choirs

Jason Byron lent the lyrics and concept behind this album. Last time that happened was for Hubardo so its looking like this album has all the pieces in place for another fantastic spot in there discography. People need to not be so stuck on Choirs of the Eye, Toby and company have never repeated the same record and Choirs was released almost a decade and a half ago.

The Choirs vinyl is definitely a shit show on Toby's part. He should have hired someone to do it for him instead of doing it himself when he didn't have time for the last 2 years.

Can people tell me why the fuck being on Spotify is such a big deal for people? Real question.
Dont you already have it? On Itunes or a physical or downloaded from a blog or whatever. Im old so I just don't get the 'OmG ITs NOt On SpotIfy; shit.

Also got my Vinyl last year. Toby answered all my emails etc Took longer than expected obviously but its there looking beautiful. And HYPED for this. Im pretty sure theres 2 drummers on some of the tracks of not all.

Cause people would apparently rather not listen to an album if the process would have them endure even the slightest inconvenience. Unfortunately you close yourself off to a lot of good shit that way and also make yourself look kinda lazy

Thats what I figured. I know people have it for 'On the move' and 'In the gym' and al that Jazz too but why have to wait for Spotify to hear it? Weird.
