The two published reviews reviews here shows that any jackass with a computer can call themselves a reviewer, which is precisely why I'm writing a sound-off right now. Granted, this album is not for someone with ADD. Seriously, calling Hell Bent for Leather and British Steel uninspired shows no knowledge of heavy metal and how those albums influenced the genre. Judas Priest has always reinvented their sound over their career and have never reproduced albums based on casual fan expectations. Go ahead and pan the album and wish for another Painkiller. Just don't think that people should respect an uninformed opinion.
By the way, if you guys had any balls you wouldn't edit submissions.

What the hell happened? Another dud from the metal legends, Nostradamus is ambitious and wants to be an incredible epic but falls short. Despite ideal production values and Rob's signature vocals, there's not enough exciting songs to overcome the mile long list of passages and incomplete songs which are rather bland. "Prophecy" is mildly entertaining, the t/t has aggressive riffs and an operative vocal performance, "Future of Mankind" is a better closer than "Lochness" (maybe the best tune here), "Death" justifies its runtime with a dramatic structure, and "Persecution" has a good soundscape, but even these are mainly second rate JP. A disappointing album.

This ain't half bad, and in fact, I would go as far as to say that this could've been totally awesome, if not for one fatal flaw: it is WAY too long and overblown. They could've cut this down to around 70-80 minutes, keeping it epic in scope but preventing it from being too bloated for its own good, and it would've been great. Doing that and then making a couple of the remaining songs much faster would have produced a classic. Slow pace and length aside, this is still a fundamentally good album, and it's nice to see an old band still trying to do new things. Some of the tracks are pretty damn solid, like NOOOOOOSTRAADAAMUUS (enough said), the stomping Prophecy, the orchestral and epic Revelations (which embodies what they were probably trying to do here more than anything else on the album), Conquest, and Persecution, which carries the faster pace that this album needed more of. As mentioned, there are certainly lesser tracks as well, like the pretty crappy ballad New Beginnings, and with the exception of the AWESOME final two songs, the second disc isn't very good, but something about the great atmosphere, the epic scope, and the sheer audacity of this group of fifty-somethings put out a double-disc, 102 minute metal opera in 2008 makes me not want to rate this below a 3.5. If you enjoy Judas Priest and big grand albums, and are feeling patient, then check out Nostradamus.

This guy Mike Stagno rates every shit Maiden has done in the last years with 4 or
5...Obviously he has an issue with the Priest as most Maidenheads do, because they just can't
accept this:
"There are certain bands doing things that are very innovative and fresh, and
then there are others who - dare I say it - are doing a little more than ripping us off. They
say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but sometimes it goes too far. There
are a lot of bands out there who've taken the leather look a bit too close for comfort. I'm
not just talking about small-time bands either. You'd think a band like Iron Maiden, for
example, would try to be a little more original in their approach. I have nothing against
them personally, but sometimes I feel a little uncomfortable about their image." r- K.K.

If you talk to people that like Maiden more than Priest they'll tell you the
only Priest albums that are great are Painkiller, Screaming for Vengeance and Defenders of
the Faith. Most probably they will also tell you that Priest have poor lyrics. They just
don't get into the scope, the range, the feeling of Judas Priest. Let
them listen to Maiden rerecording the same song 1000 times over in every album since 1988, I
say....

Nostradamus has some cheese issues but other than that it's a solid new step for Judas
Priest, given that Priest never make the same kind of album for a second time.
