I expect to see this as many people's album of the year. Astonishing guitar work and songwriting. The melodies are beautiful yet haunting. The vocals are abrasive yet soothing.

Super impressive solo effort to brew up some blackened speed/thrash metal that never lets its foot off the gas pedal. A lot of great riffs and an equal amount of solos that aren't just there for show but drive the songs forward thematically. The title track, "The Cursed Carrion Crown" and "Poison Womb..." are a few standouts. Oddly enough with this record the more time that passes and more listens I give it, the less of an effect it has on me. Just becomes a bit repetitive with time. Pretty much any metal fan should check this one out as it should have appeal across a wide spectrum of listeners in the genre.

Warlock Grim and Withered Hags (lol) features basically a thousand hot black-thrash-speed riffs and soli that are both epic and dumb (which is a good summary for the whole metal spectrum), and this both serves and disserves its proposition. Also agree hard with DaChef Garland: this would have benefited from a couple of progressive, calmer moments.

Well, this is a ripper!! Fast, furious, fun, catchy and very balanced. There is no single weak or filler track here, only the focus on the style varies during the album (more emphasis on speed or thrash or black in a song/section), which makes this release very entertaining all the way through, perfectly solving the problem what bands like Midnight could never pass... it never gets samey, there is alway a little extra in the right time to shake up the listener (like: a bagpipe melody inserted into the layers of frenzy guitar riffs, or a Tom Araya-alike scream, or a Motörhead-style bass line, or a "slice" of acousitc guitar etc-etc.) Very cleverly written album with near infinite replay value + best black/speed album I've ever heard.
