Another well produced and well written record by German industrial powerhouse Rammstein. With "Reise, Reise", Rammstein delivered a little different but still ass-kicking sound. We can say Till Lindemann is in form as the other band members. Rammstein gave us the signal that they still writing good and controversial stuff as always.

Probably the most consistent Rammstein record (at the point of its release) since the band's debut offering, Reise, Reise is a nice addition to the band's already pretty consistent discography. This album showcases a bit more exploration in the bands original design, something pretty refreshing at this point. There are a lot of catchy tracks here, compared to one more maybe two that are skippable (see Morgenstern). Aside from this little side-step Reise, Reise is a fun listen and a good effort from these guys.

Carried by the hit singles Amerika, Mein Teil, and Ohne Dich, as well as sleeper hits like Stein um Stein, Reise Reise marks a great Rammstein record but misses their musical olymp by quite a margin due to the rest being mediocre filler material (Reise Reise, Keine Lust, Moskau, Morgenstern, ...).

Surprisingly, one of the few bands that has held up since high-school. Rammstein has a distinct sound (mostly thanks to Till's amazing voice) and it can't be found any better than on here. From song to song these guys are continuously changing it up, that's probably why this more than their other albums can stand more repeated listens. As long as you don't go into this expecting too much, I'm sure it'll be a great listen. 4.0/5

Unconventional characteristics aside, Rammstein don't come across as an act worth taking truly seriously. Then one subjects their ears and are left grinning and noddy aplenty. In particular, Reise, Reise gets off to a engaging start but loses momentum as slower, more deliberate songs take over. Heavier, grislier tracks like "Morgenstern" and especially "Mein Teil" come off as more complimentary to the oddly playful German nature at work.

Rammstein had been slowly but steadily improving since their debut, and the majority of Mutter said they were ready to make something truly great. A bit ironic, then, that the band had to (in some ways) abandon their traditional sound to make their most varied, ambitious and consistent album to date. Here, these six Germans bring their signature industrial ("Mein Teil" and the title track), bluesy acoustic rock ("Los"), epic power ballads ("Ohne Dich", "Amour"), and even poppy industrial ("Moskau") - and best of all, they succeed at just about all of it. The major change of this album coupled with the disappointing follow-up suggest that they'll never make an album this good again - but to their credit, none of the other German industrial bands have either.

This was the first Rammstein album that I bought so the fact that they are straying from their roots doesn't bother me that much. A great album with several great songs. I don't speak German but with online translations (herzeleid.com does a pretty good job) and a bit of effort you can understand the feelings behind the songs quite easily.

I really, truly love Rammstein, but this album just goes against everything that they were and that got me to love them. I love how they tried a new sound, but it's time to get back to true Industrial for them
