For all the praise Bon Iver gets for being a simple, enjoyable listen, TV on the Radio accomplish all that while creating truly inspiring, eclectic, forward thinking music. Pretentious while not being pretentious; "Dear Science," is an indie album that combines itself with elements of hip hop, electronica and a good 'ol helping of soul to make it the ultimate vision of what the band has always done. Surprise of the year.

TV On The Radio followed up 'Return To Cookie Mountain' with an absolutely enticing, breathtaking, and brilliant album found in 'Dear Science.' Every weakness found in their previous works have been resolved. The output of 'Dear Science' is on another level and simply beyond comprehension. Tracks like "Halfway Home," "Family Tree," "DLZ," and "Golden Age" are only a few indie-rock masterpieces among the entire album. 'Dear Science' has the intangibles that is something to get excited about. Seriously, just get it already.

um did I miss something here. I looked on Spinner Top 100 albums of 2008 and Dear Science was number 1. I had never heard of TVotR so I read about them and I was like so stoked because they sounded like cool. So I spent my hard earned cash on the album instead of downloading it illegally and quite frankly I was very disappointed with what I found. It did deliver a weird vibey thingey that was cool but it was wayyy overrated, and definetly not worthy of album of the year. It not saying it wasn't good because it was, but with al lthe hype I was expecting a little more, screw that a lot more. And it didn't deliver, I'm not gonna give up on them because with so many followers, they can't be wrong. Maybe Ill download that Cookie Monster or Album because i'm definetly not buying it
BOTTOM Line: If you like TVotR buy, if you just heard of them just like i did maybe you should download it illegally. But their definetly worth a listen.

TV On The Radio pretty much ditched the complicated fuzz/anthem rock of 'Return to Cookie Mountain' for some dance hall, electronic, funk/fuzz rock, soulful balladry bullshit. And it was all for the better, not necessarily better than 'Return', but for the better of the band. 'Dear Science' is like 25 minutes and 8 tracks shorter, but whatever, it?s still some boss music. 'Half Way Home' 'Love Dog' & 'DLZ' are the best songs that never made it onto '..Cookie', 'Golden Age', 'Crying', 'Dancing Choose' and 'Red Dress' are funk infused, rap, indie masterpieces. While their dance songs and rockers shine, 'Dear Science,' really lets it all go when it's heart is showing. Tracks like 'Stork & Owl' and 'Family Tree' are gorgeous ballads, adorn with sweet horns and strings, while 'Lover's Day' is probably the best song about a raucous fuck ever. Ever.

TV on the Radio's fourth studio effort shows remarkable progression from former works; creating a fun and eclectic mix of songs that won't fail to deliver. From the arty opener 'Halfway Home' through to album closer 'Lover's Day' this creative masterpiece will suck you in with it's charm and slightly off the wall genre blending (you'll hear elements of indie rock, soul, electronic and more). Q Magazine described this as 'art rock with a human face' ...whatever the fuck that means this is a record that the band can be proud of and is a delightful gift for music fans across the board.
