It's unfortunate that 'Woods' had to ruin what is otherwise a beautiful EP; the first three tracks of Blood Bank are delicate and fragile, and invoke an unwavering sense of emotion, but it is the final track which, to my great distress, just sounds a little gay.

Aside from a few songs here or there, this is my first taste of Bon Iver. Justin Vernon, the angel-voiced lead singer, is mesmerizing here, especially on the title-track. As far as the sound of the record goes, it's beautiful, often starting out sparsely before building up the sound with more instruments and vocal layers. The use of piano in "Baby's" is a nice touch, and "Woods" is cool and funny in an ironic sense, because what would a guy like Vernon need auto-tune for? It kind of helps dispel the myth that using auto-tune in any way makes you a crappy singer. In short, Blood Blank is really nice indie folk, and it serves as the perfect sample for anyone willing to try out Bon Iver.

This is only 17 minutes long with 4 tracks, but 3 of the 4 are really good. Blood Bank is probably my favourite to just listen to, but Babys and Woods are gorgeous and really different. Woods is a good (acapella) example of how auto-tune can be used beautifully.

Once again I'm lost on the appeal of Bon Iver. After finding great disappointment in his debut full-length, I thought there was hope with the Blood Bank track and following EP. The title-track is decent and Baby is alright...the other two songs are pretty stripped down awfulness.

The EP starts out with an absolutely breathtaking display of emotion on "Blood Bank", easily the standout of the four tracks. The next two are also great, but not quite up to the level of their predecessor. Woods, though, is the most glaring fault. While repeating one line over and over while adding one voice/effect in each time, it became obvious to me that this song isn't worth 4:44 of my time. Besides this dud, Blood Bank is a step in the right direction for Bon Iver's soothing voice, soft melodies, and eloquent imagery.

the autotune doesn't quite ruin the EP as everyone suggests. get over the fact that it's different and learn to like it :P.
